# Experian BOP Score Models

## Experian BOP Score Models

This reference consolidates the score-model context used by [Experian Personal Credit](/api-docs/docs/experian-7). It applies to Experian Business Owner Profile (BOP) consumer reports, not Equifax or TransUnion reports.

## Available models

| API option | Dashboard label | Score range | What the result predicts or represents |
| - | - | - | - |
| `vantage4` | Vantage 4.0 | `300`–`850` | Likelihood of serious delinquency, generally 90 or more days past due, using a model that can consider trended credit data. Higher is lower predicted risk. |
| `fico8` | FICO 8 | `300`–`850` | General consumer credit risk based on Experian credit-file data. Higher is lower predicted risk. |
| `fico9` | FICO 9 | `300`–`850` | Later FICO general-risk model based on Experian credit-file data. Higher is lower predicted risk. |
| `fico_v2` | FICO v2 | `300`–`850` | Earlier FICO general-risk model based on Experian credit-file data. Higher is lower predicted risk. |
| `fico_advanced2` | FICO Advanced2 | Provider model output | Advanced factor-code vocabulary used with Experian/FICO output. Interpret the score and factors returned in the report rather than translating from another model. |
| `fico5` | FICO 5 | Provider model output | FICO 5 option registered by the current Lendflow BOP integration. Interpret the returned provider output under the terms for this model. |

The exact API values are validated by Lendflow. Send one as `options.consumerScoreModel`; labels are not accepted as API values.

## Model output

| Output | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `riskModel[].score` | Numeric score returned by the selected model. |
| `riskModel[].scoreFactors` | Ranked factors that most negatively influenced the score. |
| Positive VantageScore factors | Optional provider factors prefixed with `P` when that output is enabled for the applicable product configuration. |
| Fifth inquiry reason | VantageScore 4.0 or FICO output can include an additional inquiry-related reason when inquiries were not among the first four factors, depending on provider output. |
| Exclusion code | A provider code returned instead of a usable score when the file does not meet model requirements. |

Do not apply one model's factor-code text to another model. Use [Experian BOP factor codes](/api-docs/docs/experian-bop-factor-codes).

## Exclusion codes

### VantageScore 4.0

| Code | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `0001` | The file or a tradeline indicates that the consumer is deceased. |
| `0004` | The report lacks enough credit information; it may contain only inquiries. |
| `9000` | The profile contains more than 500 tradelines, inquiries, and public records. |

### FICO models based on Experian data

| Code | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `9000` | The profile exceeds the model's file-size parameters. |
| `9001` | One or more tradelines report the consumer as deceased. |
| `9002` | The profile contains no tradelines. |
| `9003` | No tradeline has been opened or updated within the model's required recent-history period. |

An exclusion code is not a low score and must not be converted to zero.

## Inquiry context is separate

The model does not determine whether the service is a hard or soft inquiry. The selected BOP inquiry context does. In Lendflow, **Commercial Lending To A Sole Prop** and **BOP Commercial Collections** are hard inquiries; the other registered BOP contexts are soft inquiries.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Which value should I send for FICO Advanced v2?">
    Send `fico_advanced2`. The Dashboard label is FICO Advanced2.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I compare scores from different models as if they are identical?">
    No. Although several models use a 300–850 range, they use different model versions and factor logic. Record the model with every score.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does a higher score indicate higher risk?">
    For the documented 300–850 VantageScore and FICO models, a higher score generally indicates lower predicted credit risk.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What should I do with an exclusion code?">
    Preserve it as a non-score outcome and follow your policy for insufficient, deceased, or oversized-file results. Do not treat it as zero.
