# FMCSA Company Info

## FMCSA Company Info

FMCSA Company Info retrieves US Department of Transportation registration, operating authority, insurance, inspection, crash, and carrier information for a business. The **FMCSA Company Info** Workflow Builder block exposes the `fmcsa` service for business entities.

## Requirements

| Application field | Requirement | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| Business legal name | Conditional | Required when a USDOT number is unavailable. |
| Business address city and state | Optional | Recommended to improve company matching. |
| USDOT number | Optional | Uses the stored carrier identifier when available. |

## Run FMCSA Company Info

1. Call [Enrich Business Credit Application](/api-reference/workflow-management/enrich-business-credit-application).
2. Set `provider` to `fmcsa`.
3. Include the applicable underwriting `stage_id` when required by the workflow.
4. Confirm that the response contains `data.onqueue: true`.
5. Poll [Get Commercial Data](/api-reference/workflow-management/get-commercial-data) with `services[]=fmcsa`.

```json theme={"system"}
{
  "provider": "fmcsa"
}
```

The request is asynchronous. The result appears at `commercial_data.fmcsa`, the latest lifecycle message appears at `statuses.fmcsa`, and the stored request appears at `request_data.fmcsa`.

## Run FMCSA Company Info in Data Orchestration

FMCSA is available in Data Orchestration.

1. In the Lendflow Dashboard, open **Builders > Data Orchestration**.
2. Add the FMCSA service to a template, connect its outcomes, then save and publish the template.
3. Execute the template with [Execute Data Orchestration](/api-reference/data-orchestration/execute-data-orchestration).
4. Monitor the run with [List Data Orchestration Logs](/api-reference/data-orchestration/list-data-orchestration-logs).

## Errors and statuses

`statuses.fmcsa` is a Lendflow lifecycle message, not an FMCSA finding. `Started` means the asynchronous request is pending, and `Success` means Lendflow stored the provider response. A response containing `error`, including `Failed to retrieve company info`, marks the service and any waiting orchestration entry as failed.
